POST #3 PLAN for Cylinder

I am making a replacement small pitcher for my sister because she like the one I made in the past but the handle eventually broke off.. They used it every day, it was the perfect size for them to pour their own milk in the cereal

This image didn't work well for the cylinder... because when it wrapped around I could see the "m"

Post #1 PRODUCT Soft Slabs- Slump Molds, Surface Design:Stencil, Scraffito, Texture

I had so much fun working with the soft slabs I could just go one and on!

In the first three images I used an aluminum pie plate as a slump mold and the drop techniques to give a nice gentle concave depression in the clay.

Planning for Soft Slabs- Using Slump/Hump Molds

I. Find 3 examples and post image of plates, platters or other ceramic objects that could have been created with a flat slab over a mold-form

II. Write a brief paragraph under the image…perform an Analysis various Elements & Principles to create Surface Design. Use the 4 components of the Circle above to help you identify and describe what you are looking at

If possible include what you think the technique used might be

Ideas to guide your search:

#1 Find a plate that uses multiple combined Slab Shapes to create the overall form

#2 Find a plate that uses one type of shape or line to create a Surface Design. See if you can identify the way it is organized, which Principle of Design is used…

#3 Find a Plate or other form (may have different use/function i.e. wall clock, plaque)
that utilizes an interesting non geometric outer shape.

Consider:
Why do we add Design to our household every day items?

Why do we like shape so much? What other things to we make into fun shapes?

Today I showed the class how they can draw on to or should I say transfer a drawing using water-soluble marker on paper and then applying it to the Clay

I also show them how they can use stencils or templates for cutting shapes

I then began to draw my design that I carved with the thistle it is a symbol of a fissile which is the Scottish flower

I kept it covered up to have it dry slowly and when it is leather hard to hard leather hard I will do the finishing touches

The basic form is a hemisphere, by combining two and joining them together you can create a hollow Sphere Form which can become a lot of things we see around us

Below is one example illustrating how everything can be INTERPRETED... (seen) in its basic Form-Shape (for drawing). Learning how to understand how complex forms are essential a combination of simple forms
