Planning for Soft Slabs- Using Slump/Hump Molds
I. Find 3 examples and post image of plates, platters or
other ceramic objects that could have been created with a flat slab over a
mold-form
II. Write a brief paragraph under the image…perform an
Analysis various Elements & Principles to create Surface Design. Use the 4
components of the Circle above to help you identify and describe what you are
looking at
If possible include what you think the technique used might
be
Ideas to guide your
search:
#1 Find a plate that uses multiple
combined Slab Shapes to create the overall form
#2 Find a plate that uses one type
of shape or line to create a Surface Design. See if you can identify the way it is
organized, which Principle of Design is used…
#3 Find a Plate or other form (may
have different use/function i.e. wall clock, plaque)
that utilizes an interesting non geometric outer shape.

Today I showed the class how they can draw on to or should I say transfer a drawing using water-soluble marker on paper and then applying it to the Clay
